About Hay Diet
How soon can I start riding my horse again?Okay so my horse foundered in the past and was lame on his right front when I got him. I took him to the vet and the vet said it was due to a huge rope burn on the back of his fetlock that he acquired from previous owners, not laminitis. He gave me butte tablets for the pain and some medicine for the rope burn. I asked him how much movement he should be getting and the vet acted like I was stupid and said I could be riding him as soon as the rope burn was healed. This doesn't sound right to me....I ignored this advice and continued to leave my horse in stall rest and walk him outside and tie him out during the day when I could watch him to get some fresh air (tied him so that he could not eat the grass) He has been on a strictly hay diet with some soaked sugar beet pulp to help him keep weight on. He hardly ever limps anymore while walking and I even had him trot one lunge circle both directions to evaluate if he still showed pain, he didn't for that short time. I still do not feel confident though that it would be okay to ride him (I'm talking about strictly WALKING with me on his back in the pasture) and was wondering what others advice would be. Is it too soon still even though the vet said he could be ridden everyday even though he was limping? This gelding is my baby and I don't want to do the wrong thing. He isn't showing sign of pain as of the last couple weeks.

Can you feed chinchillas timothy hay for their main food?
My Chinchilla hasn't been eating any of her pellets since i got here (around 4 days ago) but she's been scarfing down all the timothy hay i give her, which is only about 2 - 3 handfuls a day (shes a BIG chinchilla :D) I was wondering if this would still be a good diet for her or if it would cause digestive upset. Any help would be appreciated. Also her poop pellets are fairly hard which i heard is good so in my opinion the strictly hay diet is working but I don't know as much as a long time chin owner. I also feed her raisins, around 1 a day, but i slice them up into 4 pieces and give them to her throughout the day for behaving when i let her run around. I want to keep her healthy and alive for a long time because I already love her so much :D.

Horse feed without pasture.?
What would i expect to pay per month to feed one horse. The guy I'm buying him from says, apart from the occasional oats, he pays about $1.50 - $2.00 a day to feed one horse. On that hay diet, the horse is at a healthy weight. We live in the same town. In this town, there aren't really any places to "board" a horse. There kinda is, but all that gets you is a tiny bit of "land" (a patch of dirt with a shed and and a fence). Also, it is a desert area (google Elko or Toole County), so there is no pasture. (dont nag me about how this is a bad place for a horse, there is at least 50 horses down here at this "boarding place", and other than one careles sowner, the rest are doing just fine.) If it matters, i will (obviously) take care of it every day. But i will ride maybe 2-4 times a week. The other days, he will be let out to run in the arena by himself for his exersise.

Egg shaped / misshapen bunny droppings? NO COPY PASTE ANSWERS PLEASE?
i have a 5 month old male bunny. he's been having strange poops for some time. these strange poops consist about %30 of the droppings but again, im concerned. some of them are egg shaped, some of them are elliptically round, not perfectly spherical. they all of the poops consist of undigested fiber and the color is brown. they are not watery or mushy. here is some extra few things you need to know = he doesnt let me groom him so he might be licking the hair to his stomach when he is shedding. = for the last few weeks ive been giving him some (safe) veggies and fruits, in small amounts as treats but changes in his poop occurs almost always when he has fruits and veggies in his diet. = he eats eagerly and well, hes active, curious as usual. teeth are ok. should I be worried? what should I do? If even small amounts of fruits might be causing this, wont he have any? should I keep him on a all hay diet all the time??????

All hay diet for rabbits?! HELP?
I've been really busy studying for finals these last two months, and I haven't been able to buy the pellets for my rabbit. I haven't been paying attention, but I have been feeding him a handful of Timothy hay every night. I just picked him up, and he is REALLY skinny. I'm really scared, he seemed fine, but I noticed I had to refill his water bottle to the top every night. It looks like he has been pooping fine, should I take him to the vet right away? Or should I just change his diet? Please help, I love him very much and would do anything for him. If it helps, he is a miniature lionhead. Thank you.
